No TNFα for transplants

A University of Toronto team has shown that inhibiting TNFα enhances the engraftment success of hematopoietic stem cell transplants in mice and plans to test the strategy in the clinic using Enbrel etanercept within a year.

The slow rate of engraftment and repopulation of hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCs) after transplant contribute to graft failure and transplant-related mortality.
