Microbiotica cultures the ‘unculturable’ microbiome to develop gut therapies

Microbiotica Ltd. has combined high-precision sequencing, a large reference database and novel culturing approaches to identify and develop commensal bacterial strains, including previously unculturable ones, to treat Clostridium difficile infection and other indications linked to the gut microbiome.

Microbiotica’s key technology, which was spun out of the labs of co-founders Trevor Lawley and Gordon Dougan at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, also includes machine learning algorithms and animal models with humanized microbiomes.
