Cell culture studies suggest inhibiting CYPR, SLC45A4 or ATP7A could help treat paraquat poisoning. Screening of a CRISPR single-guide RNA (sgRNA) library targeting metabolism-related genes in a paraquat-treated human T cell line expressing CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) identified CYPR, SLC45A4 and ATP7A as genes whose knockout increased viability compared with a non-specific sgRNA.
