Mouse studies suggest inhibiting the calcium channel L-type could help treat MS. In the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model of MS, a calcium channel L-type inhibitor decreased MS symptom scores, sensomotor deficits and nerve fiber pathology, and increased remyelination compared with vehicle. Next steps could include testing other calcium channel L-type inhibitors in the EAE model of MS.
