Rat studies suggest GHRH receptor antagonists could help treat dyslipidemia associated with Type I diabetes. A rat model of Type I diabetes had higher GHRH receptor levels in the small intestine than normal rats. In the rat model, a GHRH receptor antagonist tool compound decreased lipid levels, total cholesterol and the ratio of very low-density lipoprotein to low-density lipoprotein (vLDL/LDL) in plasma compared with vehicle.
