U.K. releases anti-GMO report

The U.K. Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee today published a report examining the design and operation of the farm-scale evaluations (FSEs) of genetically modified forage maize, beet, and oilseed rape. According to the committee's recommendations, no genetically modified crops should be grown in the U.K. without years of further trials.

The committee said it was concerned that the forage maize trials were based on an unsatisfactory and invalid comparison and that it was "vital that the Government permit no commercial planting" until the crop was tested again in a different setting.
