Sensitive analysis of big single-cell data sets
A “geometric sketch” algorithm could be used to sensitively profile large sets of single-cell RNA sequencing data without sacrificing transcriptional diversity, according to a study from Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers, by sampling representative groups of cells instead of sampling the most abundant cells. The computational method identified a rare subpopulation of inflammatory macrophages in umbilical cord blood cell sequencing data.
