New tool for degradation of endogenous proteins

In a study published in Cell, researchers at Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC LMB) and colleagues describe a new protein degradation technique called Trim-Away that harnesses a naturally occurring ubiquitinating protein and antibodies to rapidly target and remove proteins from the cell.

Traditional approaches to disrupt protein function use DNA knockout or RNA interference to inhibit the protein on a genomic level. However, these methods only indirectly degrade proteins, can have off-target effects and are difficult to use in non-dividing primary cells...
