NIH, Gates Foundation back sickle cell, HIV cures with $200M

Following calls from the White House to end the U.S. HIV epidemic, NIH and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced a collaboration to invest at least $200 million in the development of low-cost in vivo gene therapy and gene editing candidates for sickle cell disease and HIV infection.
