Sanders, Khanna propose compulsory licensing to reduce U.S. drug prices

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced Tuesday plans to introduce legislation that would impose compulsory licenses on drugs if their prices exceed a reference price derived from an international price index.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said he will introduce a version of the bill in the House of Representatives during the next congressional session. Both bills are titled the Prescription Drug Price Relief Act.
