CMS to overhaul Part B drug purchasing

CMS is moving forward with plans to overhaul the way Medicare purchases infused and injected drugs that are administered under a physician’s supervision. It has requested public comment on proposals for implementing a Competitive Acquisition Program (CAP) in which private plans, similar to those that negotiate drug prices in Medicare Part D, would negotiate prices for drugs purchased by Medicare Part B.
