House E&C highlights 340B program flaws

The House Energy and Commerce Committee published a review of the Medicare 340B program on Wednesday detailing a number of flaws in the program's administration, oversight and transparency, while offering suggestions for improvement.

The report said the Health Resources and Services Administration lacks sufficient regulatory authority to adequately oversee the program and clarify requirements. It added that HRSA has not fully implemented guidance or regulations in the areas in which it has regulatory authority and that the administration lacks sufficient resources to conduct audits of covered entities and meet the demands of the program.
