Reactions mixed to new California co-pay coupon law

The pharma industry has expressed concerns over a new California law prohibiting a prescription drug's manufacturer from offering discounts or vouchers if a cheaper generic is covered by a patient's insurance. The industry believes the law may prevent patients from accessing branded products they need for medical reasons.

Other groups have applauded the bill's passage. The legislation, A.B. 265, became law earlier this week when Gov. Jerry Brown signed it.
