Maryland 'price gouging' bill to become law

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan said he will allow a bill designed to prevent drug price gouging to become law without his signature.

In a letter to Maryland’s House Speaker Michael Busch, the governor expressed concerns about the bill, H.B. 631. The bill would allow the state's attorney general to sue drug manufacturers, and would authorize courts to levy civil penalties, in cases of "price gouging" for an "essential" off-patent or generic drug (see BioCentury Extra, March 21 & BioCentury Extra, April 10)...
