Senate committee passes FDA FY14 funding bill

The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee passed a FY14 budget bill that would give FDA $2.56 billion in base appropriations, an increase of $96 million from FY13. The committee has not yet made the text of the bill or an accompanying report available. According to the Alliance for a Stronger FDA, the committee indicated it will include language that will prevent the sequestration of FDA user fees and possibly restore FY13 funds that were taken away.
