EMA outlines priorities for 2013 in work plan

EMA detailed its priority areas for 2013, including continuing efforts to increase communication and transparency, increase operational efficiency and implement new legislation. In its 2013 work program published on Wednesday, the agency said it will focus on implementing the remaining provisions of pharmacovigilance legislation that came into effect last July, as well as legislation that came into force in January that sets stricter standards on the importation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into the EU. The agency said it also will work to "increase the efficiency of operations," as EMA's 4.1% bump in its 2013 budget is mainly due to inflation.
