Biotech indexes gain on deals

Two multibillion dollar deals announced Monday pushed indexes up, with the smaller caps outpacing the big ones. The SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (XBI) was up 5.5%, while the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index (NBI) gained 3.2%.

After Celgene Corp. (NASDAQ:CELG) said it will acquire Juno Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:JUNO) for $9 billion on Monday, sending Juno up $18.19 (27%) to $86, at least three other chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T companies gained at least 10%. bluebird bio Inc. (NASDAQ:BLUE) added $18.70 (11%) to $194.65, while Sorrento Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:SRNE) gained $1.35 (21%) to $7.75. Cellectis S.A. (Euronext:ALCLS; NASDAQ:CLLS) added €1.96 to €26.06 on Euronext and gained $3.01 (10%) to $32.49 on NASDAQ...
