Color Genomics raises $52M in ongoing series C

Genomic testing company Color Genomics Inc. (Burlingame, Calif.) raised $52 million as part of an ongoing $80 million series C round led by existing investor General Catalyst. Charles River Ventures, Laurene Powell Jobs of existing investor Emerson Collective, and additional undisclosed investors also participated.

In May, the company said it would begin accepting health insurance for its 30-gene Color Test, which assesses hereditary cancer risk, if the test is ordered by a physician. At the time, the company said it was partnering with “some of the largest payers” in the U.S., and would work with CMS in order to further its goal of lowering genetic testing costs for everyone...
