Novartis Operations splitting after Wyss steps down

Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS; SIX:NOVN) said it will split its Novartis Operations unit after André Wyss, president of operations and country president for Switzerland, steps down on April 1.

The pharma will divide the unit into Novartis Technical Operations and Novartis Business Services.

The company slated Global Head Novartis Technical Operations Steffen Lang to run the newly formed technical operations unit, and appointed him to the pharma's executive committee.

Head of Novartis Corporate Affairs Philippe Barrois will be interim lead of Novartis Business Services while the company seeks someone to fill the position on a permanent basis.

Matthias Leuenberger, delegate Novartis Switzerland, will succeed Wyss as country president.

Novartis also added Shannon Klinger and Chief Digital Officer Bertrand Bodson to the pharma’s executive committee. Klinger was also named chief ethics, risk and compliance officer; she was chief ethics and compliance officer and head litigation.
