Orion alliance debuts to develop predictive MS models

Orion Bionetworks, a not-for-profit alliance of public-private partners, debuted on Monday to develop predictive models to better understand brain and CNS diseases, including multiple sclerosis (MS). GNS Healthcare Inc. (Cambridge, Mass.) also joined the alliance and will use its Reverse Engineering and Forward Simulation (REFS) technology to develop computational models of MS using clinical, biomarker and imaging data from over 7,000 patients, with the aim of better understanding the underlying biology of MS to guide the development of personalized treatments. The data will be provided by alliance members Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis, Brigham and Women's Hospital and health information-sharing website PatientsLikeMe Inc.
