Genzyme General, Pharming deal

GENZ said it signed a conditional agreement to acquire certain assets of PHAR subsidiary Pharming N.V (Geel, Belgium). In August, PHAR filed for receivership for protection from its creditors, and earlier this month, PHAR said it was negotiating with several biopharmaceutical companies regarding the sale of the company (see BioCentury, Aug. 13 & Sept. 17). GENZ said the conditional agreement, which was reached with the court-appointed trustees of the PHAR subsidiary, is subject to the approval of a commercial court in Turnhout, the Province of Antwerp and GENZ's board. ...
