Sanders delaying Bertagnolli confirmation as NIH director

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), has vowed to block confirmation of Monica Bertagnolli as NIH director, along with all other health nominations, until the Biden administration releases a comprehensive plan to lower prescription drug prices.

As chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Sanders effectively has a veto over confirmation of Bertagnolli’s bid to head NIH. She is currently director of NIH’s National Cancer Institute. ...
