Woodcock to focus on modernizing FDA operations

FDA Commissioner Rob Califf Wednesday informed agency staff that he has asked Principal Deputy Commissioner Janet Woodcock to focus on priorities outside medical product and tobacco regulation, including “food and nutrition, inspectional oversight, animal drugs/devices/food, information technology, and the FDA’s budget and operational matters.”

Woodcock told BioCentury that while she has been pulled into medical product issues since Califf was sworn in as commissioner, these are “not my area of emphasis.” She said her activities involve “cross-Agency projects that will improve operations, particularly those supported by IT.”...
