Georgia biotech leaders support voting rights, resist calls to shun their state

Call to action could stunt investment in Georgia

Biotech industry leaders in Georgia, ground zero for the voting rights controversy, expressed solidarity with the ideas expressed in a letter signed by biotech leaders supporting voting rights, but opposed their calls to consider shunning the state. The letter could stunt investment in Georgia and other states with controversial pending voter-related legislation. 

At least 75 biotech CEOs and investors signed the letter, which says that “current efforts in several states to change voting laws effectively marginalize and suppress particular classes of voters.” It calls on biopharma leaders to consider alternatives to investing or holding meetings in states that have enacted voter suppression laws.  ...
