Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Tokyo:4519) promoted Osamu Okuda to CEO from president and COO, succeeding Tatsuro Kosaka who will remain chairman. Okuda, who joined Chugai in 1987, has served as president of Roche Products (Ireland) Ltd., head of oncology marketing and sales, GM of corporate planning and co-head of life-cycle management. The move is effective March 23; Chugai is majority owned by Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY).
Astellas Pharma Inc. (Tokyo:4503) promoted Percival Barretto-Ko from U.S. president to chief business officer. The company also promoted Astellas Institute for Regenerative Medicine President Yoshitsugu Shitaka to CSO.
