Researchers from three groups published in Science the identification of a region on human chromosome 10 associated with late-onset AD. MGH researchers and colleagues found that a region of human chromosome 10q was significantly linked to AD in 435 families studied, especially in late-onset families. They suggested that the gene encoding insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE), which may degrade beta amyloid in neurons, may be the disease locus in this chromosomal region. ...
