Promising to put science first, Woodcock takes over as acting FDA commissioner

Collins to remain NIH director, career staff put in place on acting basis at other HHS agencies

Within a few hours of his inauguration, President Joe Biden put a slate of public health officials in place. Most are serving on an acting basis pending nomination and Senate confirmation of permanent officials.  

As expected, FDA veteran Janet Woodcock took over leadership of the agency. In a statement released on Twitter, she promised the public that “science — above all — will continue to guide the FDA’s regulatory actions now and into the future.”...
