GNE and Tanox settled lawsuits filed by each company against the other relating to the development anti-IgE monoclonal antibodies. Tanox had sued GNE relating to development of anti-IgE MAbs, and GNE had filed a patent infringement suit against Tanox and Ciba-Geigy. Tanox and Ciba-Geigy are jointly developing an anti-IgE antibody product to treat allergies and allergic asthma.

Under the agreement in principle, GNE and Ciba/Tanox will combine their anti-IgE antibody programs into a cooperative development effort.
