The EU's Environment Council of Ministers did not reach a qualified majority vote to authorize the import, feed use and processing of genetically modified NK603 corn from Monsanto (MON). Nine countries voted against the authorization, nine in favor, and one country, Germany, abstained. NK603 corn has been modified to have an increased tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate.
