House passes animal drug bill

The House passed legislation that would provide incentives for developing drugs for animals. The incentives are modeled on Orphan Drug legislation and include three years of exclusivity for new animal drugs for minor use and minor species. The bill defines minor species as "animals other than cattle, horses, swine, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats," and minor use as "use on minor species or on other species for a disease or condition that occurs infrequently or in limited geographic areas." ...
