Animal rights activists guilty of terrorism

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey convicted the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA animal rights group and six of its members of inciting violence and terror against Huntingdon Life Sciences, a U.K. company involved in animal testing. The defendants now face heavy fines and possible jail terms of up to five years.

SHAC was found guilty on all six counts, including conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Protection Act for the group's campaign to put Huntingdon out of business, terrorize its employees and harass and intimidate other companies doing business with Huntingdon, as well as employees of those companies. Each count carries a maximum penalty ranging from three to six years in prison and a $250,000 fine. ...
