By selecting McMurry-Heath as new leader, BIO breaks mold

BIO has picked a new president and CEO, Michelle McMurry-Heath, who breaks the Washington trade association mold. She will take over on June 1 from Jim Greenwood, who has held the position since 2004; she will be the trade association’s third head.

McMurry-Heath thinks and talks about the biotech industry’s core issues in terms that will resonate with BIO’s members and that could help shift the public and political conversation. Science and access to medicines, she told BioCentury, are “social justice issues.” ...
