While chronic disease patients are navigating unprecedented challenges in access to drugs and care during the COVID-19 crisis, the silver lining is that it is forcing the hands of legislators, regulators and payers to increase access to telemedicine and at-home infusions, which could benefit patients well beyond the pandemic.

Patients with chronic diseases typically need to travel to specialists for treatment and are at a greater risk of complications if they contract COVID-19. What's often overlooked is the toll those added risks, when combined with the disruptions in care imposed by the crisis, take on patients.
