Agonism of the dopamine receptor DRD1 could treat pulmonary and liver fibrosis. In cultures of lung fibroblasts derived from patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a DRD1 agonist tool compound decreased proliferation, accumulation of collagen and fibronectin, and markers of contractile myofibroblasts, all hallmarks of the disease.
