Warren vows quick executive action to seize pharmaceutical IP

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) intends to spend three years building support in Congress for a Medicare for All plan, but if elected president will take immediate executive action to reduce drug prices, she said in a plan released Nov. 15.

Warren said that on her first day in office, she would use compulsory licensing and NIH “march-in” authority to seize intellectual property and order the government to contract for the manufacture of generic drugs. Immediate targets for contract manufacturing would include insulin, which Warren said could be “profitably developed for $72 a year,” as well as epinephrine injectors. ...
