Biocon’s Mazumdar-Shaw pledges cheaper insulin for low income countries

Low and middle income countries would be able to purchase recombinant human insulin at a fraction of the current cost under a commitment by the founder of Indian biopharma Biocon, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.

The current median price for insulin for patients in low and middle income countries is 36 cents per day, according to the company.
