Management tracks: Third Rock-backed Thrive names new CEO; plus PhRMA, Adverum and more

Thrive Earlier Detection Corp. (Cambridge, Mass.) said David Daly will succeed Steve Kafka as CEO, effective Aug. 19. Daly was chief commercial officer of the Foundation Medicine Inc. unit of Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY). Kafka is a partner at Third Rock Ventures and will become Thrive's executive chairman. Third Rock led the liquid biopsy company's $110 million series A in May (see "Thrive's Quest to Bring Multicancer Liquid Biopsy Test into Routine Clinical Use").

PhRMA said EVP for Advocacy Rodger Currie will step down, effective Aug. 31. Before becoming EVP in 2016, Currie was VP of global government affairs at Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN), which he joined after working with PhRMA from 1998-2004...
