Management tracks: Gottlieb's next move, plus Vertex, Centogene and more

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb will return to the American Enterprise Institute as a resident fellow after he leaves the agency. His last day at FDA is Friday. Gottlieb expects to work part-time at AEI, where he will focus on drug pricing and access (see "Gottlieb Farewell Speech: “Take on Hard Problems and Challenge Conventional Wisdom”).

Cystic fibrosis drugmaker Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:VRTX) hired Charles Wagner as EVP and CFO. Wagner succeeds interim CFO Paul Silva who continues as corporate controller. Wagner was CFO and EVP at Ortho Clinical Diagnostics Inc. (Raritan, N.J.). In January, Vertex terminated COO and interim CFO Ian Smith (see "Vertex Fires COO Smith for Personal Misconduct")...
