China details punishments for IP fraud

China's National Development and Reform Commission published a list of 38 punishments, to be implemented by multiple government institutions including China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), for IP fraud and theft.

Punishments from the State Intellectual Property Office include patent denials and inability to access expedited review of patent applications. Without elaborating, the document states that NMPA and several other agencies will heighten daily supervision and increase the frequency and extent of spot checks. Disciplinary actions by other government agencies, such as the People's Bank of China and the Securities Regulatory Commission, include increased government scrutiny of share transfers, convertible bond issuance and other financial activities; loss of government funding; and restricted participation as a government supplier. ...
