Placental organoid could improve preeclampsia therapies

A placenta-like organoid developed by a University of Cambridge team could improve understanding of maternal-fetal first-trimester disorders like preeclampsia and provide a model to study therapies to treat first-trimester complications.

Challenges in preeclampsia and other prenatal disorders include early detection and availability of effective drugs that do not adversely affect fetal development.
