Amgen, partners to bring cancer management system to rural Kentucky

Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) said on May 23 it joined a public-private partnership to identify cancer patient needs in rural Kentucky. The project, called L.A.U.N.C.H. (Linking & Amplifying User-Centered Networks through Connected Health) was started in December by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Connect2Health Task Force and the National Cancer Institute.

The program will use human-centered design methodologies to identify patient, caregiver and healthcare provider needs in Appalachian Kentucky to develop a system to better serve the area. The partners hope to generate a model system that can be applied to under-served areas across the U.S...
