NORD says states come up short on health policy

The National Organization for Rare Disorders said in its annual report card that many state laws were not sufficient to reduce the burden of rare disease on Americans.

The report, which grades the strength of states’ health policies that support patients with rare diseases, showed that 36 states failed to enact prescription drug cost-sharing limits, more than half of states did not meet federal recommendations for newborn screening and many states have passed right-to-try (RTT) laws that the patient advocacy group does not support. ...
