Mouse studies suggest miR-31 inhibitors could help treat chronic lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) infection. In a mouse model of chronic LCMV infection, T cell-specific knockout of miR-31 decreased disease scores and serum viral titers and increased the number of LCMV-specific CD8+ effector T cells in the blood compared with normal miR-31 expression.
