Mouse studies suggest DPP-4 inhibitors could help treat bone fractures. In mouse bone samples, levels of DPP-4 were higher in adipogenic progenitor cells -- which are associated with the risk of bone fracture -- than in osteochondrogenic cells. In mice with tibia fractures, the DPP-4 inhibitor Januvia sitagliptin or a DPP-4 inhibitor tool compound increased bone repair compared with vehicle.
