Mouse studies suggest inhibiting CD6 could help treat MS. In an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model of MS, CD6 knockout decreased clinical signs of encephalomyelitis and T cell infiltration in the spinal cord compared with normal CD6 expression. In a CD6-knockout mouse model of EAE expressing human CD6 in T cells, a mouse mAb against human CD6 decreased demyelination and T cell infiltration in the spinal cord compared with control IgG.
