Rat studies suggest GRIA antagonists or GABA A receptor agonists could help treat L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia in PD. In a rat model of L-DOPA-induced dyskinesia in PD, infusion into the primary motor cortex of a GRIA antagonist tool compound or a GABA A receptor agonist tool compound decreased abnormal involuntary movements compared with vehicle. Next steps include identifying other compounds that modulate neurotransmitter signaling in the primary motor cortex.
