Therapeutics: Interleukin-25 (IL-25; IL-17E)

Patient sample and mouse studies suggest IL-25 could help treat Clostridium difficile infection (CDI). In patient intestinal tissue samples, levels of IL-25 protein were lower than in samples from healthy volunteers. In a mouse model of CDI, IL-25 decreased clinical scores of infection and increased the number of eosinophils in the colon and survival compared with vehicle.
