Emerald Therapeutics closes $6M series B, launches Emerald Cloud Lab

Emerald Therapeutics Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.) raised $6 million in a series B round led by existing investors Founders Fund and Max Levchin, a co-founder of Paypal, which is part of eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY). New investor Schooner Capital also participated.

Emerald Therapeutics also launched its Emerald Cloud Laboratory (ECL), which scientists can remotely access via the internet to have automated robotics conduct experiments as specified by the user. All of the generated data at ECL is automatically cataloged and placed into a database. The company is accepting applications for users to join a beta trial of ECL, which currently supports over 40 standard types of life science experiments from western blots to matrix-assisted desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry.
