Cellular Dynamics investors expect to build stem cell supplier franchise

Venture investors in Cellular Dynamics International Inc. aren't looking for a quick trade sale of the supplier of induced pluripotent stem cells. Instead, they expect to invest enough to make it a profitable, standalone company, according to Chairman and CEO Robert Palay, who is also a partner at Tactics II Stem Cell Ventures.
Tactics founded the company and led last week's $40.6 million B round and a tranched $28.4 million A round in 2008. The company also received a $1 million development loan from the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, bringing the total raised to $70 million...
