Thomas Cech joined Morgenthaler Ventures as a special advisor to the life sciences team. Cech was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1989 for showing that RNA molecules have catalytic functions and participate in cellular reactions. He was president of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2000-09.
